In many instances, recourse to court for settlement of disputes is not necessary and usually expensive.

The trend in recent times, which is supported by new developments in the law, is to have matters settled through the available Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms. As such a centre for arbitration and dispute resolution has been established in Uganda.
